Lenses for the Film Industry

Reasons for needing anti reflective lenses when filming:

1/ Improved visibility of actors eyes. Studio lights and other light sources cause heavy reflections on lenses. AR coated lenses greatly reduce this making the actors eyes more visible. This enhances the emotional connection and allows for better audience engagement with characters.

2/ Reduced glare. Without AR lenses, reflections from bright lights and camera flashes can create a distracting glare on the glasses, detracting from the scenes visual quality. These can be removed post production but is costly both in time and money.

3/ Enhanced Aesthetics. Clear, reflection free lenses look more natural and appealing on screen, maintaining the overall visual integrity of the film.

4/ Continuity and Consistency. AR lenses help maintain visual consistency across different shots and lighting conditions, avoiding noticeable reflections that could disrupt the viewers immersion.

Overall, using AR lenses in glasses for movies contributes to better visual clarity, aesthetic appeal and viewer engagement.

There are four main types of anti-reflective coatings, each best suited to different conditions. We have collaborated with many directors of photography and have unparalleled experience in advising and supplying AR lenses foe the film industry.

We can also supply lenses to the actors prescription. With absolute discretion, we have gained the trust of production companies and leading actors with decades of service to the film industry.
